According to the data provided by Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF), the total steel exports from China to Japan last year from January to November was about 576,100 tons.
It was much lower than the total steel exports in 2005 that had reached to 824,580 tons. Although the Chinese steel export capacity is strong and the freight is very cheap, the export data is remarkable low comparing to China’s over 43 million tons finished steel product export to the worldwide.
According to some Japanese importers, it was because Chinese mills faced a lot difficulties in Japan like the Japanese buyers’ fickleness for product quality and their lacking of shearing and coil center capacity in Japan.
It was said another important reason was because of the power of Japanese mills that forced Japanese buyers to stay loyal.
